Hi all Gidge people, Want to urge all out there to fill in the survey form and submit it to the GPA. Can be done online from this website or pick up a form from the Gidge Post office. Will only take you a few minutes and is a very worthwhile exercise. Whether you are for or against development this is the opportunity for all of us to have some input into what we want. My thoughts on this and i would ask you to think about this..... Drive, walk, cycle, whatever, along Bunning rd or the road into the reserve. Take a minute or so and look around. What do you see??? If PB get their way you will not see what you see now. All you will see is roofs and bitumen. Trees forget it, they only get in the way. Amazing how their consultants can make the destruction of such a beautiful view sound so good. Maybe that s why they get paid. So don't forget the Gpa is run by locals who give up their time, yes volunteers,( not paid consultants that PB have ) and these volunteers are working for all of us who live locally.

Whoever wrote the GPA Survey certainly was not looking for anything unbiased or reflective of community opinion. This was one of the most poorly presented set of questions I have ever seen. Obviously the undercurrent of anti-development sentiment is at work again. I would like to think a PROGRESS ASSOCIATION would at least show some small glimmer of their assumed title.

Interesting people's reaction to things isn't it?
Have not really got round to looking at the Survey form but now I have, I would have said it was pretty sitting on the fence.
I would say a genuine attempt to get the community's views for what they want. Progress sometimes can be helping the old lady across the road when she doesn't want to go. This looks to me to be simply holding her hand. How about filling it in and putting your views, I am going to.

Well at least someone is doing something INAFRICA. And with a bit of luck you might stay true to your title. The pro development crew, PB, have done their survey and their forms were worded very carefully. If anyone should be asking residents what they want it is really the city of swans role to conduct place planning meetings. This effort by the gpa may prompt the city to do so. Whilst inafrica maybe do a stopover in the sudan or somalia.

Maybe a bit of 3rd world travel would help open a few closed minds at home.

And there is the answer - the Gidge people have travelled a fair bit and that is why they value Gidgegannup and what it has to offer.
The closed mind sees one end - people in Gidge are a bit more far sighted than that. They have seen and lived in suburbia and that is not what they want that is why they are here.
Some development ok but not suburbia.
Not closed minds but extremely open and wide vision but also being certain of what they want.

Before this discussion get's completely off the point I would like to point out that the GPA is definitely not anti development. This appears to be a rumour that is being promoted by some factions.
The GPA's position is and always has been that they support a developed townsite in Gidgegannup.
The degree of that development is the question.
We are told by our members and the community that they do not want a density as high as is being proposed.
Now if that is the case confirm it, or if it is not the case, let us know.
That is why we have put the Survey form out.
It has been deliberately worded to get people's views on the degree of development they want, not to push them in any direction.
We would be grateful if people would complete the Survey, as many people already have, and thank you to those people.
At least in this country we do have the freedom to speak our minds without fear.
